2021 Villages Independence Parade Celebrating our 29th Year!

Dear Friends:
The Memorial Villages are pleased and excited to announce the 29th Annual Memorial Villages Independence Parade set for Monday, July 5, 2021.
On behalf of the Villages, I would like to invite you to be a part of this year’s festivities.
The event will be held on Monday, July 5th. The parade down Piney Point Road, kicks-off our patriotic, flag waving, red, white and blue celebration of America’s birthday.
We are happy to report that last year's distancing and masking restrictions are no longer in effect! Of course, mask up if you choose to. As the Parade is on a Monday, we will not be having our usual gathering at the end of the parade as we simply ran out of organizing time and location. I promise we'll be having a big bash next year! We need some new blood to start an organizing committee for the Independence Festival, so if you are interested in serving, let us know! We will simply come out, wave the flag, cheer our Police and Fire Personnel, celebrate our Great Nation and go enjoy the Holiday.
There is also a “Fun Run” and children’s bike ride to kick off the parade. Meet up at the Memorial High field house parking lot at 9:45am. Runners will go first. The run is a true Fun Run (if you call running fun), no timers, no categories, no pressure. The run will go down Piney Point and end near Ecclesia Church. Runners will need to have their own transportation back to the start.
Shortly after the runners leave, we will have a Children’s Bike Ride. We are encouraging riders (of all ages) to decorate their bikes and ride the parade route. All in support our Red, White, and Blue. Families are encouraged to ride.
Next, it is the vehicle parade starting at 10am. Residents who wish to join in are encouraged to decorate their vehicles following a Red, White and Blue theme. The parade will be led by the Village Fire Department, followed by Village Officials, Resident Vehicles and followed up by our Police Departments.
The old-fashioned 4th of July celebration is a joint effort of the six Memorial Villages and is free to all attendees. We will not be having floats this year, but might be throwing candy… The Parade will end in front of St. Francis/Ecclesia Church.
If you will be joining in the parade and decorating a vehicle you must register in advance. The parade will be limited to the first 100 vehicles that register. Please send your name and phone number to Tom Fullen at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Limit of 1 vehicle per registration.
Hope to see you on the 5th , to celebrate the 4th!
Jim Pappas, Mayor
