Library fundraiser features bargain books and plants

A great selection of books and plants will be on offer at bargain prices at this year’s upcoming Plant and Book Festival, in support of Spring Branch-Memorial Library. The two-day event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 27 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 at Spring Branch-Memorial Library, 930 Corbindale.

Hosted by Friends of Spring Branch-Memorial Library, the annual festival offers bargain prices on children’s books and adult fiction and nonfiction, from cooking and history to religion and the classics. The plant sale features bedding, flowering, exotic, indoor and outdoor plants, as well as hanging baskets. There will be an opportunity to bid on rare and first edition books in a silent auction. Additionally, there will be coupons and gift certificates to redeem at area businesses.  Proceeds from the festival will be used to buy materials, such as e-books; expand programs for children; and beautify the library, which is considered a neighborhood gem.  Sweet Tomatoes will provide refreshments.
