January 2015

From the Mayor

Dear Residents,

Bunker Hill Newsletter Jan 2015 thumbIt has been a busy year in Bunker Hill! I want to thank our City staff, City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Beautification Committee, Drainage Committee, Website Committee and everyone else that has assisted us this year. This year we focused on projects that fulfill our city's mission statement. Per the preamble written by our leaders in the 1950's when they first established zoning in our City and reconfirmed in 1990 when the formed the City into two zoning districts:

"The very purpose of the City's being was and is to provide and perpetuate a quiet, tranquil, safe, and orderly community of single-family homes with abundant greenery and open spaces, clean air and water, a safe environment, and other amenities conducive to the development and enjoyment of family life"

In 2014, we adopted new development ordinances to keep this vision intact. In addition, we added trees and landscaping to our public areas and provided a memorial area for our residents to honor loved ones. We constructed (and are completing) drainage improvements and adopted a drainage ordinance to ensure our drainage is maintained in the future. In 2015, we will launch our new website and are implementing new recycling opportunites. All together, we are the City of Bunker Hill Village - a great place to live, raise a family, and retire!!

Happy 60th Anniversary Bunker Hill Village!

Jay Williams
Mayor

P.S. We are always looking for more talented volunteers, so let me know if you would like to get involved!

Bunker Hill Newsletter Dec 2013 thumbDear Residents,

I am honored to be your new Mayor. Our new City Administrator, Karen Glynn and I have big shoes to fill in replacing Ruthie Sager and Derry Essary. We have been very busy in 2013, and have several goals to accomplish in 2014. We want to complete the East Side Drainage Project, complete the review and revisions to our Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning and Drainage Ordinances, and begin a study on our building permit process.

Bunker Hill has a strong set of volunteers filling our boards and committees and we are always looking for more talent, so let me know if you would like to get involved. Bunker Hill was ranked by Forbes as one of the ten best places to retire rich, but I think it is a great place to work and raise a family too!
